Most Expensive Item In My Wardrobe

It goes without saying that I love clothes and own a few expensive items in my wardrobe. I’m the type who would be willing to trade in my first born for a Dior Homme AW17 fur bomber jacket – which, of course, I didn’t do only because I don’t have my child yet.
While I’m prepared to spend exorbitant amount on runway or unique designer items, I’m also very selective in what I buy. I’m materialistic and while materialism sounds like a dirty word, its definition has evolved to describe those who have an appreciation of things rather than a “neurotic love of purchasing things”.
This admiration was the case for the Burberry Prorsum Antique Yellow Book Cover Print Jacket from the SS15 collection. It features a bold print that’s hand painted and it also happens to be the most expensive item in my wardrobe.
The jacket is a piece of artwork, like a painting except one that I could wear as well. Its graphic statement is perfect for winning at fashion week street style while the classic denim jacket silhouette makes it easy to wear. It’s an investment piece that I’ll be wearing for years to come, as long as I can maintain my size 0 perfection.
Being style-conscious, I have a legitimate excuse to splurge on clothes as many fashionistas would agree. I ask some of the style elite what the most expensive item in their wardrobe is and why they were prepared to part ways with their money for it.

The most expensive item I (@mean.xs) own is the LOEWE Puzzle bag. What intrigued me about the bag is that it can be used in 5 different ways. That in itself made it special and value for money.
I used the Puzzle bag every day for a couple of years and it’s still in good condition. That’s one of the perks of buying expensive goods – they have quality and will last for a very long time.
The bag has become a classic. I’d spend the money on such things again – it’s an investment!

The Gucci heritage floral print green suit from the SS16 collection is the most expensive item I (@huesofman) own. I am a big fan of colour and love playing with period pieces so this suit is worth the money for its vibrant print and vintage silhouette.
I like to maximize the suit as much as possible. I didn’t pay for it to just sit in a garment bag! I like wearing the full look and mixing different shoes and shirts with it, or splitting up the pieces to make new outfits.
There’s no regret buying this Gucci heritage floral print green suit. However, I wouldn’t buy as much pricier items again. The cost of being a fashion blogger can be very expensive and there are other things I would like to buy, like real estate!

One of the most expensive items in my wardrobe (@mrboliu) is the Louis Vuitton calf leather trench coat from the AW17 collection. The sleeves are detachable so it can be worn sleeveless or on top of another jacket. The coat also opens on the sides.
I treat the coat like any other item but it’s leather so I take extra good care of it and store it in a garment bag dust cover.
There’s no regret buying this coat and as long as I can afford it, I’ll definitely spend the money on luxury items like these again.

The most expensive item I (@lofficiel.oc) own is the Rolex Daytona watch in gold. It’s worth the money because Rolex is one of these rare brands that retains its value.
I’ve come to realize that it’s not wise investing in fashion. Quite often, designer pieces cost an arm and a leg and they are impossible to resell. It makes more sense
investing in a watch as it’s part of your everyday life. It’s also easy to work into your wardrobe.
I wear it everyday, just not at the gym. It’s totally worth the investment when you think how much use I get out of it.
I would definitely spend that money again on another watch although not for awhile. As I get older, I find it more sensible to invest in great classic pieces, supporting emerging designers, and rewarding knowledge and craftsmanship.

The most expensive item in my wardrobe (@lkrss1) is the LOEWE Hammock bag. I love Jonathan Anderson’s designs and think he is just a genius.
I bought the Puzzle bag about a year ago and because it’s so versatile, I knew I wanted another Loewe bag. I figured that I’d use the Hammock bag just as much so I turned a blind eye to the price tag.
It’s made of buttery soft tan leather so I try not to use it as much as I normally would.
There’s no regret spending money when the item is so beautiful. Even if I don’t use it, I’d still keep it just for the beauty of the craftsmanship. But in saying that, I don’t need to spend that much money on another bag anytime soon.
