When it comes to long jackets and coats, we are accustomed to the greys, navys and blacks on guys. There are the occasional checks, greens and reds but rarely the bright colours that guys would avoid for fear of being taken less seriously or attracting too much attention.

A vibrant jacket can indeed accentuate the outfit and turn heads. There are ways of styling it so the attention you are commanding is for the right reason. The thing to remember is to create a contrast against the fun and quirkiness of the jacket with some dapperness and masculinity with the rest of the ensemble.

Next time when the chill or rain hits and you decide you want to bring some colour to that grey weather, try

1) wearing a button-up shirt (to accentuate a spruce approach)
2) throwing on a pair of lace up boots (to highlight that ruggedness you are scared of losing)
3) finishing the ensemble with an oversized bag (you might as well continue the quirkiness with a bag big enough for a dog).
