Keeping the rest of the ensemble simple is also vital as you want to allow the scarf to speak for itself.

When u become bold enough to wear a scarf for statement more than function, try

1) going sock-less (to continue that point of difference)
2) throwing in a lightweight blazer into the look (to highlight sophistication)
3) carrying a backpack (lightweight scarf says elegance, backpack says ruggedness – this creates a great contrast).
