Wear a coat as a “dress”
Because, wearing a coat as a “dress” (thanks Anna Dello Russo).
Let us be honest, not many would own a sleeveless coat let alone wear one on its own. Its functionality during the colder season would be less than ideal and during the warmer season, the Australian culture and mentality would see people braving wind chill factor rather than wearing a light-weight jacket.
However in the words of Anna Dello Russo, wearing a coat as a dress (in this instance, let’s call it a top) can be fun. The next time you decide to be adventurous with your coat whether wearing it on its own or one with sleeves, try
1) cinching it with a belt (it provides a flattering silhouette and lifts the casualness to a more dressy one)
2) teaming it with statement shoes (but ensure they are no bolder as this will detract the statement you are making with the coat)
3) completing the look with a carryall bag.
