Men’s skincare brand, Bulldog, was born in 2005 when founder, Simon Duffy, realised that there weren’t any uncomplicated products in the market formulated with natural ingredients. After two years of research and development, the first Bulldog grooming range made its debut and today, the products are available worldwide.
Duffy and business partner, Rhodri Ferrier, knew that in order to capture the target market, they needed to deliver products that were effortless and premium so they focused on quality ingredients. “If they’re the best products in the world for men, then the fame will spread itself,” Duffy says.
Unlike some skincare brands who simply repackage their women’s products as men’s, Bulldog has designed their range from the ground up with a focus on men’s skin. As we all know, the male skin is different in texture and thickness so it is vital to use products that cater correctly to that and the different lifestyles.
Bulldog’s newest beard range is enriched with shea butter, borage oil and green tea, and ensures that beards are maintained in tip top condition. The Original Beard Oil leaves facial hair smelling refreshed with its blend of essential oils while the Original Beard Balm is an all-in-one product that moisturises, conditions and styles one’s beard.
The other great thing about the brand is that its products are certified Cruelty Free. Not only is the range free of parabens and artificial colours, it is also free of animal sources and animal testing. All products are suitable for vegans and vegetarians, with official approval by the Vegetarian Society in the UK.
As for the iconic bulldog figurehead, Duffy explains that it was chosen because he’s man’s best friend – a bit lazy, wrinkly and slightly overweight but on the upside, loyal, tenacious and a companion.
