Gram SS16 Shoes
Swedish footwear brand, Gram, returns with a collection for SS16 that stays true to its brand ethos – quality materials, classic silhouettes and top notch craftsmanship that are tied in with the Scandinavian aesthetics of simplicity, functionality and innovation.
The brand is renown for its clever use of materials and this season, it uses supple nubuck, mercerized cotton canvas, honeycomb mesh, double density neoprene and embossed full grain for the collection. The end results are pairing of contrast materials where soft angles meet hard surfaces that display a graphical and geometric nature.
Fashioned atop a newly developed hybrid outsole, Gram introduces the 365g low-top lace-up into its SS16 selection. Like many of the other models, this style has the comfort of sneakers and the clean elegance of a dress shoe with its hidden shoe laces behind subtle flaps.

Continuing its sophisticated footwear trajectory, the sneakers come in muted colours of jet black, deep navy, sand beige, army green and bone white that are bound to appeal to creative professionals and sophisticated sneaker enthusiasts. Like previous collections, the shoes have a smart casual appeal that are suited for both work and play.
If you’re wondering what the numbers such as 384g and 430g mean on their website, the concept of the brand’s name comes from the naming methodology where each shoe is labelled after the first sample’s weight in grams. This minimalistic manner, of course, extends from the simple Scandinavian style.
2016 marks the ten year anniversary for the brand (the first shoes hit stores in 2006) and aside from releasing new styles and continuing to excite with interesting designs, Gram has also lined up some interesting collaborations that will be worth looking forward to.
