Beyene Shoes
Beyene is a Swedish footwear brand based in Stockholm whose motto is to produce footwear that combines superior craftsmanship with timeless aesthetics. Designer Adam Abraha’s desire and passion to create a lasting impression with the footwear resulted in the minimal and contemporary design. The name Beyene is a homage to someone dear to Abraha – someone that is strong willed, confident, beautiful and simply great in all its measures. The name is an attempt by the designer to immortalize this person into the brand and create a legacy of great designs that will be loved through time.
When you think Swedish design, you are likely to think minimal, quality aesthetic and while Abraha does not necessarily set out to adopt that Swedish essence, the influence is prevalent. The first series of shoes is a classic low-top leather shoe that sits on a rubber outsole with a leather welt as a divider. The design has a clean, timeless silhouette that are complimented by quality material and are hand-crafted in Portugal.

Beyene is not about fast fashion and their footwear are the kind of investment pieces that get better with age. They have that versatile, sports luxe, casual chic look which make them suitable for casual dress-down occasions and can instantly be elevated to a more stylish look. Throw on a pair of Beyene to match with your suit, overcoat or simple white shirt and you are ready to achieve that je-ne-sais-quoi, effortless style while looking sharp and expensive.
The brand is stocked in over 50 countries including Belancé in Australia, which is impressive for a brand that begun just slightly over a year ago. Beyene has garnered a following in different parts of the world and while it is not unusual for brands to be ambitious, Abraha’s goal of becoming a brand that is known for its delivery of great designs and craftsmanship is easily achievable judging by the brand’s ethos and commitment to quality. It will be interesting to see how the brand evolves and what the next design concepts will look like.
