Safilo: Sunglasses from runway to the streets
Safilo Group Australia recently treated us to a preview of their latest sunglasses collections. From brands like Marc Jacobs to Dior to their house brand, Polaroid Eyewear, it was interesting to see and understand that sunglass designs are about the technology as much as it is the about the aesthetic.
Revealed during the runway show, the Dior Homme sunglasses impose a strong statement with their flat lenses and ultra-thin metal frame.

The metal structure underlines the architectural elegance of the style and creates a bold juxtaposition against the vibrant colours that designer Kris Van Assche sent down the catwalk. The selection from Marc By Marc Jacobs highlights an irreverent spirit and is interpreted with vintage-inspired geometric and round shapes and accentuated by bold colours. The edgy styles are suited for both men and women but it does take a certain fearless spirit to adorn these sunglasses.
For those with a more subtle and contemporary taste, Boss opts for a classic style and cleverly combines functionality with design. Their innovative, patented material allows for light shapes which are perfect for a comfortable fit and are finished with contemporary colours and smart details. Safilo’s house brand, Polaroid eyewear, launches the rainbow collection and features vivid sunglasses dressed in the rainbow shade and are finished with the brand’s unique Polaroid Ultrasight™ mirrored lenses.

The fun and vibrant energy are complemented by glare-free vision and clear contrasts which reduce eye fatigue and offer 100% UV protection.
With the myriad of designs, colours and technology to suit everyone’s needs, sunglasses no longer offer protection from the sun and light exposure due to exophthalmos for some but also serve as the perfect accessory that you see anywhere from the runway to the streets and from the beach to those shying away from recognition.
