If you haven’t realised by now, I am blind as a bat and can’t see without my glasses. While at the start I was embarrassed by the idea that only nerds and teacher’s pets wore glasses, I now embrace the fact that I am one of those cool kids (cool kids ≠ hipsters) whose style is defined by their optical choices.

OPSM launched a new premium store at World Square a few days ago and offers the latest technology in eye care and health. I have always been a curious geek when it comes to medical apparatus so when the time came to get my eyes tested, I jumped at the chance.

Exclusive to OPSM, the Optos Daytona Ultra Wide Digital Retinal Scan provides a 200˚ view of the eyes and captures a detailed image of the retina. The idea of a scan can sound excruciating but this process only takes a few minutes and is completely painless. And the verdict of my scan? I have healthy retinas that mother will be proud of.

The range of designer frames at OPSM is huge – Armani, Burberry, Oliver Peoples, Oakley, Prada and more. While I often know what works when it comes to sartorial choices, I struggle to summon the same knowledge with optical frames. During my visit, I wore a shirt which has a striking graphic print and the optometrist immediately picked up my quirky and bold personality. She selected a few pairs of frames that I was impressed with and saved me from a decision dilemma.

The World Square store also carries a capsule collection of frames specifically designed for Asian faces. The glasses have a wider nose bridge, longer temples and reduced curvature to better suit the face structure of the round and teardrop face shapes. My Asian besties, I know you can definitely benefit from this.

OPSM has grown from a single store in Sydney to over 400 stores across Australia and New Zealand and their success can be attributed to the brand’s passion and commitment to eye care. While the leading technology offers an in-depth look into the health of your eyes, the friendly service is also what makes the brand continuously successful. I was looked after by the attentive optometrists who never stopped explaining every step and making me feel at home with easy conversations as well.
