How To Style Delada Detachable Arm Sleeves

The detachable arm sleeve warmer was ubiquitous at the AW17 shows. Raf Simons sent models down the runway with knitted arm warmers, worn over outerwear, at his eponymous presentation. He did so too at his debut for Calvin Klein, where fitted versions sit fashionably on the arms of female models.

Delada, a Russian label founded by Lada Komorova, also featured a sleeve accessory in her Autumn Winter 2017 lookbook. Made from a poplin material, the Delada sleeves come with double cuffs and a strap, that can be worn loose or over the neck.

While it looks confusing at first, it’s a chic and edgy piece that’s easy to style and work into your existing wardrobe. Here’s 5 ways of wearing it.

1. Turn basic into statement

We previously showed you ways of styling a statement sweater but if you’re a basic B and only own plain knitwear, throw the Delada detachable arm sleeves on and you’ve instantly turn your basic sweater into a high fashion jumper. To complement the statement sweater, pair it with a statement pendant necklace.

2. No sleeves? Add sleeves

While pairing this sleeve accessory with a sleeveless shirt appears to defeat the sans sleeve notion, it gives your look a contrast feature and deconstructed edge. Complete the look with a pair of classic sunglasses to juxtapose the trendy look or take it to the next level with bold eyewear.

3. Dapper to casual perfection

If you need a quick hack to transform your outfit from day to night, this will be it. Dress down your blazer with the Delada detachable arm sleeves and you’re ready to go from business to party. Wear a coloured polo shirt instead of a white button up to accentuate the casual chic further.

4. Serve trendy trans-seasonal

I’m all about trans-seasonal dressing and this sleeve accessory is the perfect item for layering. Wear it over a long sleeve, half tucked, button up shirt with the top buttons undone. Throw on a woven hat, a pair of sunglasses and you’re ready to serve some trendy yet effortless vibe.

5. Coat it with outerwear

The lightweight shirting fabric makes the Delada sleeve warmer very breathable so throw it onto your classic outerwear and voila, you’ve got yourself a statement coat.  Throw in jewellery like necklace, bracelets or rings or winter accessories like scarves and gloves during the cooler months.

If you’re looking at ways to transform your looks without needing to invest in new clothes, these Delada detachable arm sleeves are probably worth the investment. Hell, even Queen Bey approves so what are you waiting for?

Margiela had these detachable sleeves before back in the 90s.

You did great with them too.
