Inspired by the unpredictably multiple personality disorder of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, DUALITY, an editorial for Huf Magazine, questions what tailoring means to tradition and redefines it for a new generation.
Once again, I teamed up with Genesis Mansilongan – a frequent collaborator who have styled the Seasons of Queer series – and turned model Jacob Johnson into a dynamic yet dangerous character. This split nature evokes imagery that sees Johnson slipping into the light and dark all at once while the Dior and Prada AW19 wardrobe only further complements this shift.
The location turned out unexpectedly fitting. What began as a studio shoot against a white cyclorama – aided by the occasional odd props – took a life of its own when we set the editorial among the unfinished studio instead. The owner only moved in the same week and had barely set up and we took the opportunity to cast the chaotic mise-en-scène into this story.
