5 Best NYC Districts For Fashionistas

New York City is a mecca for fashionistas. The best places are, however, often tucked away and if you don’t know about them, you can easily miss out on these hidden gems. That is why you have us! We put together a list of 5 best NYC quarters that every fashionista must visit so start planning your next trip to the greatest city in the world.

Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Greenwich Village is one of our favourite areas to wander around. There is a very casual vibe and the sights here are gorgeous. This is where you can soak in the beauty of brownstones – one of the cities’ most famous staples – but the real reason why this is a must visit for fashionistas is the food.

The Spotted Pig is the restaurant where the likes of Jay-Z and Bono like to eat. Their food is to die for and the woman behind the restaurant, April Bloomfield has changed the food game in NYC. Order a burger and a cocktail and keep your eyes out for the celebs dining there.

Where to go in NYC

West Village, Manhattan

Once you’ve had a yummy meal and are ready to continue exploring, head to West Village. Some of the best mixologists create their works of art right here. Given the level of mixology in NYC, having cocktails will be an experience worth remembering.

Since the first Cosmo ordered on Sex and the City, a true fashionista knows that fashion and cocktails go hand in hand. Just remember – these talented mixologists are changing the world of cocktails with every new creation so make sure you try something new when you get a chance.

Upper East Side, Manhattan

Upper East Side is home to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The largest museum of art in the USA is also where you’ll find the Anna Wintour Costume Center. This wing houses collections from the Costume Institute and was named after the iconic Vogue Editor-in-chief who has helped raise funds for it.

Anna Wintour Costume Center showcases numerous exhibits every year and the permanent collections represent fashion from five continents over a period of seven centuries. If you love fashion and design, a visit to this wing of the Met is a must.

Dumbo, Brooklyn

For lovers of vintage fashion, Dumbo in Brooklyn is where you’ll find Brooklyn Flea market, previously held in Williamsburg. Every Sunday, crowds of people flock to the flea market to sift through clothes and other knick-knacks. As the saying goes “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

This is the place for the creative and artsy crowd looking for inspiration and unique vintage pieces to complete their fashionable outfits.

Clinton Hill, Brooklyn

Clinton Hill is a beautiful and peaceful part of New York but also has some amazing shops. If you want an authentic NYC shopping experience, being surrounded by locals and avoiding tourist crowds, you should definitely take a walk through here.

The locals here are down to earth and all about community. New shops are popping up regularly and you can find some interesting places hidden in residential and industrial areas. There are also many cozy cafés here  where you can enjoy a good cup of joe and rest after a walk around its quiet streets.

This tour through New York will take you to some of the hippest spots, so soak it all in and don’t be afraid to spy on New Yorkers street style – that’s what you are here for after all!
