Uri Minkoff AW17

Presenting another razor sharp collection for AW17 at New York Men’s Day is Uri Minkoff, where form and function seamlessly meet. The range showcases tailored suiting and polished sportswear that have been cut for the urban commuter and for guys who have a sense of contemporary aesthetic when it comes to sartorial choices.
At first glance, many of the pieces are finished with detailing that appear to serve only stylish gestures but Minkoff explains that there is a functionality purpose to them. The cuffs and button on the ankles of the skinny fit trousers allow the legs to be rolled up and secured for wearers who want to prevent chain grease while cycling. Prince of Wales fabrics come in a stretch material to increase mobility while retaining its elegance.
Like his previous collections, the bags and accessories from the AW17 collection demonstrate style and substance. Oversized carryalls allow guys to go from work to play, where laptops, gym gear and fresh set of clothing can co-exist while miniature sling bags are perfect to hold the necessities like phone, keys and wallet as you zip around town on your bike.

Minkoff says the “theme is informed by the motion of a big city – the juxtaposition of harmony and chaos, those moments…when a diverse crowd congregates into a plural motion of one.” The presentation was fitting – models walked in pairs and engaged in conversation while others checked their phones or watches and cycled through a showroom that was turned into a makeshift city crosswalk.
The bikes that the models were riding are designed in partnership with Brooklyn-based Tribe Bikes. The other collaboration for the season come in the form of timepieces crafted specially for Movado, tying in with the brand ethos where navigating from meetings to metropolis can remain effortless and chic.
