Tim Coppens Autumn Winter 17

Tim Coppens presented his AW17 collection at Pitti Immagine Uomo 91 – his first outside of New York after five years of showing there and his most personal to date.
The story tells of a man and woman living in apocalyptic times. Max, a young New Yorker, travels to Europe for the first time in search of one last dirt bike adventure before the oceans swallow the continents. The woman is Tequila, equally rebellious, and they find each other.
Like his SS17 range, there are elements of skate scene and rave culture mixed with Italian tailoring and technical and athletic precision in this collection. Both male and female models exude coolness and toughness as they walk down the runway in washed-out reds, yellows and blues and signature ivories, tans and greys.
To highlight the rawness of the theme, the words “Never Ending Fun” are printed on a graphic of an H20 bomb exploding while moto accents appear on a shearling coat in the sleeves. Coppens has broadened the range to include dresses and skirting instead of just sending female models out in menswear.
Coppens collaborates with German eyewear brand Mykita as well as Under Armour Sportswear – for which Coppens is Executive Creative Director – to feature a Fat Tire motorcycle boot for the collection. The details are considered and the beauty of toughness is appropriately achieved.
