The World Is Your Oyster AW16
Drawing inspiration from youth subculture in Britain during the 70s and 80s, The World Is Your Oyster AW16 collection, We Are The Flowers In The Dustbin, features a range of relaxed and oversized silhouettes.
Characterized by anti-establishment and the idea of individual freedom, there is prominent rebellion in the clothes – embroidery and prints SAY NO TO YES and Don’t Be Told What You Want and cross-out patches are key details this season.
Like The World Is Your Oyster AW15 season, the fabric selection comes from Italy, France and Japan. The AW16 range sees subtle neutrals – which emphasises the gloomy theme – colliding with hints of checks, orange and red stitches to highlight the collection.

Founded by Calvin Chan and Joyce Kun in 2014, the Hong Kong brand – whose name is a quote from a Shakespeare’s play – continues to incorporate tailoring elements and details into its street influenced range.
The duo takes their cue from classic styles and add their own interpretation and the result is a range of elongated shorts, relaxed double breasted coats, hooded sweatshirts, T-shirts worn as outerwear
Shot in what looks like a decrepit building, the AW16 lookbook further accentuates the sombre and apathetic mood. However the title of the collection suggests that there is a light at the end of the tunnel where the fight for your own value can resonate with others.
