Private Policy Spring Summer 2018

The collection: Titled Trinkets, the Spring Summer 18 collection from Private Policy features rugged workwear with streetwear twist and Wild West silhouettes. Dusty pink were prevalent as were matching checkerboard and Jacquard prints at the New York Fashion Week Mens presentation. The brand styled the looks with cowboy boots but kept the range relevant with shorts pairing and a “Thank You” yardage on outerwear, commonly seen on NYC bodega bags.
The inspiration: Private Policy continues to explore the unsettling political climate, referencing the bits and pieces of ordinary American life, which can reflect the bigger picture. Hangtags which displayed phrases of whim, pride and fun express this political reference and everyday life.
The brand: Founded by Haroran Li and Siying Qu, previous graduates of Parsons School of Design, the duo call Downtown New York and Lower East Side, SoHo and Chinatown as their urban playground. When they saw the free spirited youth in the area but the lack of design to match this attitude, Private Policy was born.
We love: As if the satin pink bomber jacket with contrast gold sleeves wasn’t bold enough, the model wore matching chaps, complemented by rodeo boots and chunky chain necklace. Nude boxer briefs were worn to cover up for modesty and we can’t get enough of this sexy update on the Wild West reference.
