This season sees the brand interpreting denim, classic checks, neutral-tones into relevant pieces for the modern man and focuses on sophisticated tailoring, subtle detailing and luxurious fabrication.

The art of layering is pivotal in MJ Bale’s AW15 collection and the brand continues its conscientious effort to enlighten the menswear market. While Australian men are becoming more dedicated to style and grooming, the art of layering is still an effort that is not as prevalent as the European market due to the climate and cultural difference. Crafting suits and knits from lightweight fabrication and Australian Merino wool that are easy for under layering with a trench coat as much as they are suited to be worn on their own, models in the lookbook are cosily wrapped up and convey the effortless style of layering.

The campaign, shot by Hugh Stewart (who also lensed last year’s equally stunning AW14 campaign) in Tasmania at the Cradle Mountain, highlights the ruggedness and beauty of the brand’s offerings: wax-finished trench coats, woolen pea coats, three-piece suit. The mountainous surroundings play an important part in creating a cinematic experience of adventure and ruggedness as well as complimenting this seasons colour palatte of green, beige and check patterns.

MJ Bale continues to strengthen its position in the Australian menswear market, dressing savvy men at races, weddings and in the office to styling celebrities like Ronan Keating, James Tobin, Hamish Blake. The brand designs for the dapper conscious but is also clever in crafting utilitarian pieces from luxurious fabrication and knows to inject details to give a point of difference.
