Kenneth Ning Spring Summer 2018
The collection: Pushing the envelope with tailoring, Kenneth Ning inventively uses pin stripes fabric for his SS18 line to create a asymmetrical button up top that also come in denim and soft pink.
Camouflage appears in this collection with a full military look paired with a black overcoat, tying in with a regimental aesthetic. With the popular trend of contrast proportions, Ning sent out cropped pants with oversized blazers with that came with green metallic panels or artwork patches.
While brands update classic silhouettes with modern details, Ning is the kind of designer who re-invents what we know of menswear – blurring gender lines and creating original styles. Though the SS18 range is similar to collections past, there is a cohesive narrative.
The brand: Originally from San Francisco, Ning launched the label in 2014 after working at Michael Kors and Calvin Klein. He continues to inject street and sportswear elements into tailoring and innovative techniques. The brand has developed a following and is stocked in boutiques like Isetan and International Playground.
We love: While the asymmetrical button up top might take some time to translate off the runway, the way it works as a layering piece is a clever approach to creating freshness in menswear.
