General Idea AW17

Debuting his AW17 collection at New York Fashion Week: Men’s is Bumsuk Choi, designer and founder of General Idea. Duality is the theme of the collection – the conflicting sides hidden thoughts and wearing masks are explored through the use of different textures.
The colours of the season lean towards heavy shades of olive, navy, burgundy and black where oversized outerwear – what the brand is renown for – are paired with tailored trousers. Choi continues his eyelet detailing from last season’s collection.
Shirting and turtlenecks are styled as underlayer with a focus on oversized neckline. The turtleneck collars are oversized and models walked the runway with thick fur wraps, displaying a Korean design aesthetic.
K-pop singers and movie stars like Lee Byung-hun and Ha Jung-woo have adorned General Idea and the dynamic brand actively collaborates with companies like Audi, Samsonite, Samsung Electronics on design projects.
Choi launched General Idea in 2003 and was the first-ever Korean designer to show at New York Fashion Week in 2008. He continues to show in New York and have, over the years, expanded his cult following on a global scale through his passion for clothing and design.
