Hong Kong based menswear label DEMO. returns with AW17, a collection that combines the contemporary with traditional artistic spirit. The brand continues its clever take on updating cuts and details and developing a conceptual lookbook.
Established in 2013, founder Derek Chan studied Master of Philosophy in Fashion and Textile Design at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His keen interest in science and fashion is prevalent in his collections.
The AW17 collection explores what modern times would look like from an antiquated view. Models adorn oversized bombers styled with pinstripe patterns, a classic soft pink overcoat is embellished with sporty two-striped detailing on the collar and cuffs and Prince of Wales check and tweed are used in modern silhouettes.
Like previous lookbooks, accessories are key. This season, DEMO. continues with the underrated sock garters and adds lush fur tail – in ice blue and soft pink – to elevate the elegance of the range.
Chan focuses on classic simple silhouettes but his experimental details are what sets this young menswear designer apart from many of his counterparts.
